TAIGA-IACT

TAIGA-IACT is the network of 3 imaging atmospheric сherenkov telescopes distributed over an area of approximately 1 km2 in the Tunka valley. These telescopes are aimed at detecting gamma-rays in combination with the TAIGA-HiSCORE and TAIGA-Muon instruments. This detection method is novel and consists of a combination of imaging and non-imaging techniques. Five telescopes are planned for 2025 year.

The telescope structure consists of a segmented reflector and a photomultiplier-based camera installed on an alt-azimuthal mount. The reflector features a Davies-Cotton design with a focal length of about 5 m and comprises 34 round segments, each with a diameter of 60 cm. The camera has approximately 600 pixels, each equipped with a photomultiplier and a hexagonal compound parabolic concentrator (Winston cone). The size of each pixel is 30 mm (measured flat-to-flat across the hexagonal entrance pupil).
